A Broken Oven, New Friends, and a HomeExchange Honeymoon Through Patagonia

When Paco and Susana announced they were spending their honeymoon on home exchanges across Patagonia, people raised an eyebrow — hotels, for a honeymoon? Not for them. They wanted to actually belong to the places they were visiting, not just look at them.

In Ushuaia, a jammed oven sent them knocking on a neighbor’s door, and what started as a simple favor turned into a friendship they’re still keeping up today. It was only the first of several encounters that shaped their trip: in El Chaltén, a flat tire led them straight to one of the town’s last remaining local craftsmen.

From Ushuaia to Santiago de Chile, five stops, five homes, and a lot more than scenery. Read their full HomeExchange story here.

Paco & Susana, HomeExchange members since 2014, 58 exchanges.
